Honest 5 month Review (spoiler, very disappointed)

So, we ended up purchasing this one and it's disappointing. This one wasn't even originally on our radar but ended being our only option because of what we were looking for (Recommendation, don't redo appliances in Black Stainless... really limits your options) Overall it looks fine, and isn't overly loud except for the occasional "cycle transitions", might hear a louder noise or two Bottom shelf is just fine for plates, no real issues there, loads just fine, silverware holder is o.k.. Nothing special, it slides back and forth fairly easy, but nothing that concerns me Top Rack, I just think it's poorly designed. The different levels of the bottom of the rack while maybe in principal looks good, stuff can rattle and move very easily. If you have some small short dishes like we do for out toddlers, If you look at the pictures you can see there are areas that would be nice to put them, but the way the side walls are built, the holes are big enough to slide right through the front or back unless you have some other dishes there blocking them. (We learned that when after one of the first runs a glass dish fell out during the cycle (thankfully didn't break) and again fell out once when we just tried to pull the rack out to finish loading. Wash cycles. Again, very Meh.... You have to be intentional about how you load the silverware or only fill it half full or it doesn't get it all clean (especially if has something like Peanut butter on it) More often then not we have at least a couple plates or dishes come out not clean It struggles with Oatmeal/PB or stickier type stuff (even after we prerinse everything) Even has struggled at times with chocolate sauce from ice cream and dried egg yoke.(Our water heater is set at about 125 degrees which they recommend) With our needs (two kids under two) it runs about every other day so it's not like stuff is sitting in there for a week at a time. Drying - It does o.k. but could be a lot better, but when the drying cycle is done, I don't think the humidity/moisture exhausts very well so if you don't either open it a bit, or empty it soon after the end of the cycle, the moisture we re-condensate on the dishes. We used to run it before going to bed, but in the morning when we'd wake it up, there would be almost a film of water that is back over everything, so now we start it as soon as the girls are in bed so it's done by the time we go to bed so we can open the door a bit to help dishes dry. Lastly, it scratches very easy and it's very easy to see. I mean for us, it's not a huge concern, I mean we have kids that like to stick their magnet letters on it Final analysis. If I was to give it a grade, it would be a "C-" If things are a little dirtier, if you give it a good pre-rinse it would probably do fine. Does not do well with any baked on residue if you put cooking dishes in it without scrapping stuff first. Also, i have read other reviews of people talking about an odor after wash, and I can attest that after a few months of using this, yes, there can be a little bit of a different smell... not sure if it's water temp or what...but it is noticeable for us. If you are looking for a basic "cheap" dishwasher that you aren't going to work very hard, this one will probably do the trick for you. Would I buy it again? No, I wouldn't It honestly ended up being option 6 for us. After doing our research first online and then going to the store, what we thought we could get we were told "we don't have it and don't know when we will get it" the 4 week waiting period is just an "estimate" but we don't even know if/when the manufacturer will actually make it again... same thing for the next 4 options we looked at. This honestly ended up being our "only option" unless we wanted to spend over $1300....Would we consider a Fridgedaire appliance again??? Maybe (though a microwave we had died after about 4 years this fall, but we bought it super clearance so we got our money out of it) But I'd have a very hard time considering another Frigidaire dishwasher based on this one.
