fridge started messing up after warranty expired. it's now 4 years old, barely makes ice (when it does at all), requires constant defrosting of the icemaker, leaks water from ice maker onto the floor (slip hazard), and frosts over our freezer food in addition to frosting on the inside of the pull out drawers (chunks that have to be broken off to get the doors to close again). the digital panel is not communicating with the ice maker and will switch between water/cube/crush ice during dispensing. the stainless is not smudge free and is a pain to clean. the water leaks from the ice maker run down the fridge causing permanent staining. overall, for a $2300 fridge, i expected a longer life span and basic functionality. the only thing i like about it is the layout.

Ice Maker problems

the ice maker needs to be redesigned. the ice pieces get stuck and the ice does not drop through the dispenser. i've had this problem since i bought the refrigerator. i would not recommend this refrigerator to anyone. let me know if anybody else has had the same issues.

Beautiful but Problematic

we purchased this refrigerator seven years ago. we loved it. however, in the past year we have had to 1) remove the back panel to defrost the fan unit 2) replace the back panel 3) replace the cracked ice drawer 4) defrost the ice maker augur 3 x; 5) seal the ice maker housing 6), remove the back panel again to clear the clogged drain and mop up the water under the deli drawer. samsung has not addressed the problems.

Twin Cooling Freezing

i've had my refrigerator for 5 years and it started making an extreamly loud sound, it was periodic, and it stopped when i opened the doors. then a month later ice appeared in the back of the fridge inside the holes of the back wall. turns out its so common, the sound and the issue is listed on the samsung website. there are also many youtube videos on the issue. samsung should have done a recall on the refridgerater to fix this defect! the warrwnty is expired, but why should i pay for it to be serviced when samsung knows this is an issue with their refrigerators. how do i know they didnt set this up so people whould have to pay for service, labor, and parts. so my options are to defrost the fan and cooling panel every few months are buy another refridgerater.

it was a nice fridge but freezer stopped freezing after 2 months. during a pandemic i'm stuck with a family of 4 with no kitchen freezer. it took 1 month to get a service tech appointment, another month for parts to come in and now i am told it will take another month to get the parts installed. i spent 2600 on a new fridge in may 2020 and it has been nothing but a headache and an inconvenience. useless appliance i'm almost at the point of throwing it out and buying a working lg, kitchen aid, etc.

i got this 28 cu. ft. french door refrigerator with coolselect pantry™ in stainless steel approximately 3 years ago. i constanly had issues with ice maker that has iced build-up. luckily we bought the extended warranty and the repairmen had came out 3 times to fix the same issues. side note, we also bought 82 inches samsung tv 2 1/2 years ago and the pbc board has to be replaced. i will never buy another samsung appliance again. junks!

Worked fine for a year or so, but this model's fan gets iced up due to a design defect. I cleared the ice and it ran again for a couple of months before the ice built back up. It's a terrible design, and apparently this is a problem for all fridges of this model. Don't waste your time or money.

Freezer /ice maker is nothing but trouble

I have had this less than 1 year. Freezer stopped freezing 2 months after purchase. Samsung told us it was because we had a bag of ice in it. The handle fell off the freezer door. The ice maker accumulated frost, didn't keep the ice cold enough and it defrosted and refroze in clumps. The sensor to turn off ice making function didn't work. Repair man came out. Said this was a KNOWN problem. In fact, my neighbor had the same issue. Why didn't Samsung contact me? What good is registering my product if they don't provide customer service for known issues. Very disappointed in ice maker operation and Samsung Customer Service. Refrigerator features are nice.

Upper ice maker totally frozen.

We bought this last summer. About 1 month in the upper ice machine frosted over totally. Not able to open the door, totally frozen. Also the freezer handle keeps becoming loose and falling off. I have fixed that about 10 times. Now the silver end to the freezer handle fell off and will not go on. We like the layout of the fridge but all the small things are the problem. We got this a Lowes and have not been happy with it at all. Do not recommend.

I want to love this refrigerator, and I did at first. For the first year it was great, then I noticed around the water/ice dispenser in the door there was rust from it leaking. Then the ice maker for the door kept freezing up and we finally called for service. We have had it serviced twice for the same problem and they replaced the top two doors to take care of the rusting issue. It still freezes up and the door is starting to rust again around the water/ice dispenser. In the last 6 months we have had to throw out so much milk that has curdled long before the expiration date. At first we thought it was because we kept the milk in the door. So we rearranged the shelves and placed the milk on the bottom shelf towards the back of the refrigerator. That has not helped at all. We are now noticing ice building up on the back wall of the refrigerator along a seam in the wall. I love the size and the dual ice maker (even though only one is working) but I no longer wish to throw out spoiled milk on a weekly basis. Looking for a new brand with similar features.

RF28HFEDBSR ice maker continues to freeze up and quits making ice. SAMSUNG knows about the problem but has not done anything to help the people who bought it.

Problems - do an internet search by the brand name and you will find them. I have owned a Samsung refrigerator for 5.9 years. At this time I have had 2 ice makers replaced and and now the ice maker is broken a 3rd time. Plus there is a water leak, leaking water inside the fridge and onto the ground. I am a 77 year old women and have had to pay for these repairs, plus am on my hands and knees cleaning up the water. I reached out to Samsung and all they can tell me is the warranty is expired. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT - DO NOT BUY. Research the ice maker and water line leak issue it is well documented on the internet. I am appalled at their customer service response of this is out of warranty. If this had only happened 1 time I would understand but the ice maker breaking the same way 3 times and leaking water is more than just a minor 1 off issue. Research their product and read the reviews that talk about the same issues I am having. DO NOT BUY.

LEAKS AND HAS CONSTANT ICE JAMS

Repeated ice build up in ice maker and it leaks water out of the ice dispenser door constantly. The catch tray fills up with water and then overflows all over the floor and door. They have been out to "fix" it 5 times and it still does the same thing! Buy a different model!

Fundamental Design Flaw - Class Action Lawsuit

Where do I begin with this utter piece of TRASH that Samsung decided to call a refrigerator. This refrigerator was purchased new in early 2017 along with an entire kitchen suite of Samsung appliances AND a Samsung front load washer and dryer combo. Of the numerous, and I mean numerous problems we've had with all of these Samsung appliances; this "refrigerator" certainly takes the cake for worst appliance I have ever owned. Throughout the course of my 2+ year ownership of this refrigerator I have had 14, yes, FOURTEEN service calls on this refrigerator. There are 2 main critical design flaws with this refrigerator. 1. Ice continuously builds up around the top of the compressor lines that enter the refrigerator. These are located behind a plastic panel at the back of the refrigerator. This ice builds up and blocks the primary fan from circulating cold air into the refrigerator. Once this happens everything is 'luke-warm' inside but this "intelligent" refrigerator still thinks its cold inside because the temperature probe is not actually located inside the refrigerator. I have had all the manufacturer's recommended "fixes" for this completed several times over and nothing solves this problem. We have tried new condenser line sensor, main board replacement, installing of the new, longer drain probe for the evaporator heating element, installing the updated version of the condensation drain tube rubber fittings that allow water to flow through but no air back in, and about 5 different back panel replacements with ZERO effectiveness. This #1 issue is a material weakness to the design of this refrigerator, Samsung is fully aware of this issue and CONTINUES to sell this design to US consumers. This should warrant a class action lawsuit for this reason alone. 2. The ice maker fails to drop ice into the tray because it freezes to the side of the ice maker. This is a well documented issue as well and there is no fix for this design. I have had Samsung authorized repair technicians, centerpoint technicians, and Sears technicians work on this refrigerator and the message is clear: STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG REFRIGERATORS.

If I could give less than a 1 star.. Ice maker!!

The ice maker has been nothing but problems. It freezes up daily. Dethaw it to get the ice to work each day but now even that doesn't work.. I am beyond frustrated and all of the issues happened a day after our 3 year warranty expired. It is not a cheap fridge, so you'd expect the darn thing to work!

Do you really have to turn off the water

Do you really have to turn off the water to change out the water filter? With my old Samsung, very similar to this one, the filter was in the back top shelf and just twist it out and twist in the new one. A few drips on the shelf but didn't have to pull the whole thing out from the wall to turn off the water.
