Problem with ice maker

same as the other reviews, the ice maker broke down just after the 2 years warranty window. based on the all the negative reviews it's a standard manufacturer flaw, why wouldn't samsung amend the problem for the future buyers? overall, very disappointing....

Faulty ice maker.

i am happy with the refrigerator as a whole. the ice maker however, is another story. it is poorly designed causing the unit to freeze up. this causes us to shut it off and remove the maker unit. as it thaws in the sink, the hair dryer comes out and time warp 1960 happens. thaw the darn thing and clean up the watery mess. this is suppose to be frostless. i know and have also read that many others with this model are experiencing the same thing. samsung knows there is a problem but as of yet not had a recall. look, you make great money on them and that is fine. but when a flaw like this happens, you have to step up to the bar and take care of it. unless i receive a letter with acknowledgement of the problem and a resolve on samsung, i will not purchase another product or this brand again.

Beautiful refrigerator but Run away fast

get a retro experience in the kitchen. you will have the fun of manually defrosting the ice maker weekly like living in the in the 50's. sew soaker pads to place under the ice / water dispenser as it drips water. then put towels on the shelves inside the refrigerator to absorb water that leaks from the back wall. also put something absorbent under the crisper drawers or the water will leak out to the floor and damage it. like cleaning up mold that forms from all the excess water? you will love this brand. you will also have a new kitchen tool, a hair dryer used to defrost the icing problem. you will have frequent trips to the grocery store to replace spoiled food due to unstable interior temperatures.

i've had to purchase 4 ice cube maker assemblies, 1 drive assembly and 1 holding tray assembly. i have to perform manual defrosting every 1 to 3 months with a hair drier.

Icemaker terrible

I love the features on this refrigerator but the icemaker is terrible. It constantly freezes up, requiring gouging out the frozen ice or using a hair dryer to melt it. It seems to be from moisture entering the icemaker from the refrigerator section. It appears that the ice maker is not adequately sealed from the warmer refrigerator air. I would not buy another one until I could be sure this design flaw has been fixed.

Ice Maker Design is defective

I bought this unit in November, 2017. After a few months, the ice maker started freezing up. I should have returned it to the store and demanded a refund. Every four weeks or so, I have to unplug the unit, remove the ice maker dispenser, and try to defrost the ice maker section to melt out the ice dams that build up and block the ice from dropping in to the ice bucket. From the reviews I have read on line, this is a common problem that many people have had with this model. My recommendation to anyone looking for a new Refrigerator/Freezer is to stay away from Samsung in general, and this model in particular.

Excellent Fridge - Horrible Ice Maker

Plenty of space, great lighting, the flex drawer is awesome. Very nice freezer section with plenty of storage room. This unit would be ideal except that the Ice Maker is the absolute worst I've ever seen. Check on YouTube before you buy. There are plenty of other customers who have had these issues. First, all the ice comes out crushed. Second, the ice maker continually jams. It will work for a week or so, and then you have to take the ice drawer out and chisel ice away so the cubes can fall into the drawer. It's a huge pain, and for the price we paid, it's crazy that this is happening within 6-9 months of purchase. I've contacted Samsung support and they've assured me all you have to do is "reset" the ice maker by holding down a button on it. I've never seen an ice maker that takes so much maintenance. Samsung needs to fix this issue for existing owners. Steer clear unless you don't care about having ice.

Flawed ice maker design

Looking at other reviews the major problem is with the ice maker which I have also experienced 3 times. The one time I just reset things and it started on its own. The other two times it did not work until I blew a hair dryer on high into the mechanism. The problem is that things freeze together then it ceases making cubes. From another review they said that air was getting into the area from a crack within the unit. In my case that is not the problem as that area is solid, I guess it could be coming in from the front somehow. Otherwise it is a pretty good fridge and way to expensive for this known problem.

How did I live without French Doors?

I cannot believe what a difference the French doors make! I have so much more room, love the easily adjust shelves (no more messing up the top of cakes), spacious bins and great lightening! I love the drawer, we use it so much for those items we are reaching for constantly for snacks and sandwiches. The freezer is unbelievable in how much it will hold and how easy it is to locate items, the top pull drawer is a favorite of mine- I place meats and other that I will be using in the upcoming week's meals and I can easily tell what I have on hand. Really, was not sure I would like a bottom freezer, but I love it and the French doors at the top make this my favorite fridge ever! I would buy this again and again!

The flexible drawer is a great concept. I keep my drinks at the meat setting, and they are chilled perfectly. The bottom freezer is designed for easy access. I am accustomed to more door space, but that is a small inconvenience compared to be great features of this refrigerator.

I received this refrigerator today, so i haven't used it enough to evaluate everything. It is my first French door refrigerator, so, coming from a side by side it will take a little getting used to. It is very spacious, and it is easy to see everything in it, not like my very narrow, deep side by side, where things got lost behind other things. The controls are easy to use, and the drawers slide smoothly. It cooled down quickly when I turned it on. I don't know how fast it makes ice, as it has just started to do that. i didn't give it 5 stars yet because the shelves are not as adjustable as I would like, and if you want a lot of ice at once you have to slide out the ice maker tray, unlike my old refrigerator, where you could reach in and grab a handful. However, with time i think I can adjust to this, and I may edit my review in a few months.

Middle door is the bomb!

We love our refrigerator. The middle drawer is fantastic for storing party trays, large casseroles, etc. The collapsible shelf is great when you need extra space for wine bottles, juice or anything in tall containers. The only down side is the ice maker. We don't use a lot of ice but if we did it would be a real problem. And often the cubes come out more like crushed.

Quiet, efficient, well designed--love the convenience of the drawer for easy accessibility. Had to set the temperature there to 33 to get freezer to hold 0 degrees, but it makes drawer and box 37 on an ongoing basis. Ice maker works perfectly EVERY TIME, unlike our old one. Yes--when it drops ice, it's noisy. Just makes me happy cause I know it's working. Regular operation is very very quiet.

This fridge is probably the greatest fridge I had yet. It had bright light that light up my kitchen. It also store much more stuff than my old fridge. A little thing I'm sad about is that the fridge section on the first drawer is not sealed. It allowed stuff to move around if there was enough force to move it. I guess I would just want something to keep everything separated.

We has a side by side before and the freezer space was too small. This time we went with a larger model a french 4 door style. Love all the freezer space. We make smoothies a lot and I keep all the frozen fruit and vegetables for that in the top freezer drawer . Makes breakfast a lot easier an quicker to make. We love eating fruit which I keep it in the middle refregerator drawer. This way you are not opening the whole refrigerator to get at the fruit. Love the many shelves. The refrigerator fits well in the kitchen and looks beautiful.

Delivery team did a great job. We own an older home and the delivery team had to bring in the large refrigerator through the back of the house and into our kitchen which was originally an attached one car garage. They did a great gob of maneuvering through the house and hooking it up in a tight spot and were very pleasant through out the process..

This refrigerator is great has a great design it looks very rich I love how numerous shelves slide over or lift up giving me versatility and the drawer that can be used as a fresh meat keeper or set to freeze so that you can have extra space whichever way you want to go. Nice large ice bin and easy to replace filter what more could you ask for I just love it. Great Product but took forever to deliver

Once we received the fridge and got it installed it has been perfect for our family. Had to special order this fridge though and it took 6 weeks before it was delivered. So my advice is that if you need a fridge immediately and this model is not in stock you probably want to pick something else. Thankfully we could wait because we were just upgrading.

We are very happy with our new refrigerator. It has a lot of room and we especially like the middle draw that keeps our sodas at 33*. This temperature can be adjusted for anything you want to keep in the middle draw like lunch meat ect. The freezer is very roomy . The refrigerator is very quite. My fruits and vegetables stay fresh longer in the draws that have adjustable slide for humidity. Best investment ever.

This unit has got to be one of the smartest buys in my life. With multiple doors and adjustable shelves this unit is so handy and easy to use I can't believe it. It is quiet. I never know if it's running or not. And.....it really holds a lot of 'stuff'. I would advise anyone to really check out this unit before buying a refrigerator.

We love the French Doors and the middle refrigerator pull out drawer, just wish there was a shelf adjustment inside for our gallon jug of milk.

I LOVE my new Samsung Refrigerator, it's quiet, love the water and Ice dispense, French doors and deli drawer are a great feature and the LED lighting is an added plus !!

I up-graded my Samsung French-Door refrigerator to this unit - love the new features. The middle drawer - fantastic! The LED lighting....wonderful. Only negative, it's makes more noise - but it's not an issue. Thumbs up!

Good refrigerator with a couple of flaws

There are two flaws that need correcting. 1. Not easy to clean all shelves. I could not remove the glass shelf over the fruit and vegetable bins after a sticky liquid had spilled in the refrigerator from a higher shelf. 2. I could not get a drinking glass close enough to the dispenser when getting crushed ice. The ice landed everywhere.

It's white with a middle drawer

Since (competitor) discontinued their Ice White refrigerator with a middle drawer, Samsung is the only WHITE French Door with middle drawer refrigerator on the market, so that makes it perfect.

Since this is new I can't give it a 5 star rating until I have it for awhile. It is a lot larger than I expected and extends out into the kitchen quite a bit from the cabinets. The only thing I don't care for is having to actually push the doors closed. I am used to pushing it a little and the doors would close easily on my old refrigerator. I do enjoy all the different places to put everything and the extra drawer for the items, we open the door often to get. I like all the "nooks and crannies" for all the different size items I keep on hand . I find it a little difficult to get the gallon jugs over the plastic and onto the shelf in the door. Maybe there is a trick to this I haven't learned yet. The handles on the drawers move when I pull them and that is something I will have to get used to. Right now it feels like they are coming loose although I know they were made that way. I really do like this refrigerator. I just have to get used to the difference between it and my old one.

Beautiful Fridge. However we have only had it 2 weeks and tomorrow is our 3rd service call on it. Ice makes, but does not dispense. Water in door constantly leaks onto the floor.

Have been wanting a French door refrigerator since they first came out and when we purchased our new home it was the perfect time to buy one. I love this refrigerator!!! The space inside is wonderful and so nicely lit that I smile whenever I open the refrigerator doors. We love the extra drawer which you an set for Deli, Wine, etc. and it changes to the appropriate temperature for what we are using it for. We haven't had it long but I will say that we are very pleased with the refrigerator and very happy with the purchase. We definitely feel that we got a great value for our money.

took a couple of hours to cool down mostly due to transferring from old to new but very pleased with the space and features. will take a while to get used to the new setup but enjoying so far.
